Canadian National Committee for Mechanics – Presentation Awards

The Canadian National Committee for Mechanics has been established to promote mechanics in Canada and to represent the Canadian mechanics community at the International Union of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (IUTAM).

Award Objective – Promote scholarly pursuits and conference participation to support early-career research development.

Eligibility – The awards are designated for junior researchers, encompassing individuals up to the rank of assistant professor.

Award Details – A total of three awards may be presented: one for presentation during the Fluid Mechanics Symposium, another during the Solid Mechanics Symposium, and the third during the Computational Mechanics Symposium. Each award includes a certificate and a cash prize of $100.

Selection Criteria – Awards will be granted following a comprehensive evaluation of the oral presentation's quality. This assessment will encompass the clarity and effectiveness of delivery, the use of visual aids, and the presenter's ability to respond to questions with precision. Selection of awardees will be conducted by CNC IUTAM members. In cases where CNC members are unavailable, the symposium chair will assume responsibility for selection.

Questions and comments may be forwarded to the CNC IUTAM Chair, Professor Maciej Floryan (floryan@uwo.ca).
